- Determine your goals and expectations for your student’s education. The Student and Family Assessment provides a framework for assessing many key factors that are frequently overlooked.
- Identify your student’s talents, academic inclinations, and interests. Depending on the age of your student, you may obtain input from teachers, coaches, and academic advisors.
- Identify the type of private schools that you are interested in having your student attend.
- Visit the Web sites of the schools in which you have an interest. Pay particular attention to recent school and classroom activities, school news, and messages from administrators and faculty members.
- Contact the schools that interest you most to request admission information, application materials, and a curriculum guide.
- Attend open houses for schools of interest and complete the Parent School Visit Record for each school. Choose the appropriate school visit record based on the grade level of your student: elementary school, middle school, or high school.
- Arrange for student school visits, if appropriate or required.
- Arrange for students admission tests, if required.
- Complete and submit applications that have December deadlines.
- Complete financial aid applications, if aid will be requested.
